What happens when young minds meet engineering, technology and a drone challenge?
Things get seriously exciting. ![]()

SIM STEAM Pertandingan Dron 2026 brought together primary school students from across Malaysia for a national-level challenge where precision, problem-solving and flight skills mattered.
Held on 22 August 2026 at SJKC Kwong Hon, Kuala Lumpur, participants were challenged to put their STEAM knowledge into action — from assembling a drone under time pressure to mastering manual flight through an obstacle course. ![]()

And it wasn’t simply about getting the drone off the ground.
It was about:
Building with precision
Controlling with skill
Thinking critically under pressure
Solving problems as a team
Performing with speed and accuracy
Every component, every adjustment and every decision could make a difference.
Co-organised by SIM STEAM and Tech Dome Penang, the programme aims to spark an early interest in drone technology while nurturing the technical, problem-solving and teamwork skills needed by the innovators of tomorrow.
Because the future of technology isn’t just about knowing how things work.
It’s about having the curiosity to build it, the skills to control it, and the mindset to solve what comes next. ![]()
